On 16 September 2026, AGRIBIOMASS organised a workshop in Curitiba, Brazil, dedicated to the EUDR and its implications for the wood pellet sector, with particular attention to Brazilian companies operating, or planning to operate, on the European market.
The event, held at the Mercure Curitiba Batel Hotel, brought together producers and industry professionals for a morning of training, discussion and exchange of experiences on the main topics related to the evolving European regulatory framework.
EUDR and wood pellets: understanding the new regulatory framework
During the workshop, some of the key aspects of the EUDR were presented and discussed, with a focus on topics of particular relevance to the wood pellet supply chain.
The session covered, among other subjects, the principles of due diligence, traceability and geolocation of raw materials, the information required along the supply chain, and the different actors involved in collecting and transmitting relevant data.
Particular attention was given to the characteristics of the Brazilian forestry and production supply chain, considering them in relation to the information and requirements set out under the European regulation.
The aim of the workshop was to provide participants with a clearer overview of the regulatory requirements and to promote a better understanding of their implications for the sector.
An opportunity for discussion across the supply chain
Alongside the training session, the workshop provided ample opportunity for questions and discussion among participants.
The presence of several Brazilian wood pellet producers encouraged the exchange of experiences and perspectives on topics directly affecting the sector, including production, certification, traceability, information management and exports to the European market.
Through examples and general discussions, participants were able to explore some of the main aspects related to the application of the EUDR while keeping the conversation closely connected to the practical characteristics of the Brazilian supply chain.
The morning began with a breakfast and networking session, offering participants an additional opportunity to meet and exchange views before the workshop started.
Information and training in an evolving regulatory environment
For AGRIBIOMASS, the Curitiba workshop represented an important opportunity for training and dialogue with industry operators, allowing some of the key topics related to the EUDR and its implications for the wood pellet supply chain to be explored in greater depth.
Special thanks go to Mabile Gatelli, who delivered the presentation, and to all the companies and professionals who took part in the event and contributed to the discussion through their questions, experiences and perspectives.
Initiatives such as this provide a valuable opportunity to encourage knowledge sharing and dialogue among the different actors in the supply chain, within a regulatory and market environment that continues to evolve.
